This book provides, for the first time in English, a vista to the original ideas and novel teachings of Allamah Karbaschian, the founder of the Alawi educational institute in Iran which has gained an international fame as the Eton College of Iran because it has produced successive generations of political and cultural elites in the country.

Karbaschian was a renaissance man, hence the honorific title of 'Allamah' which precedes his name. He was a selfless senior cleric, a pedagogist, a self-taught educationalist, a maverick among his clerical peers and yet an orthodox religious man, an amazing orator, and finally a great friend to his students and the teachers who worked in his school.

Having received his education in Qom seminary, Ali Asghar Karbaschian decided to leave the seminary environment to provide modern education for the pre-revolution youth in Tehran. His new model of education aimed to inculcate religious values among the students who would later have to face the serious challenges of secular higher education when they would enter the university.

This book is a must read for all the pedagogists and educationalists regardless of their religious or secular persuasion as well as for anyone who wants to learn about providing modern education to Muslim youth while preparing them to face the challenges of burgeoning secular culture.

Thought provoking

I really think this book motivates you to share knowledge to others and gives methods how you can. It’s so interesting how scholars put so much effort to help the ummah and whilst I am not a scholar and just a lay, it only helps you understand why scholars do what they do in this arena we live in to get us closer to our deen. Surah Fatiha to all the amazing scholars who helped the ummah, Ameen.
